so this is quite raw... and very unfinished. its so tricky painting someone you know- i started out with the photo and canvas upside down, but ended up cheating and turning them over half way.
another few new things for me are: starting on a dark primer- which i really enjoyed... i liked the instant depth it gave, however subtle. also, this is quite patchy and has the 'slapped on' kind of look- which has been forgiving with regards to getting facial details right.
it needs a lot of work, but im not sure where to take it from here stylistically- ie. lashing out in color to make mum stand out, or wash all but the figure out in one color, or to just leave it as is and finish up the figure, etc...
